Cinnamon Ornaments

Hello, friends! I have switched all my gears to Christmas. If this year doesn’t call for extending the season, I don’t know what does! Over the weekend my girls and I decked out our dining room Christmas tree with homemade ornaments and garland. It was tons of fun and we love any Christmas related activity. Our favorite is hands down the cinnamon ornaments, because they look like gingerbread cookies and they smell amazing. Follow along and I’ll show you how to make your own.

First, gather your supplies:

1 1/2 cup cinnamon

1 1/2 cup applesauce

2 Tablespoons Elmers glue

Mix all your ingredients together until well combined. It will have thr same consistency of regular cookie dough, but will feel damp.

Roll your dough out on parchment paper. This keeps your surface clean and makes it easier to roll out. Use cinnamon as you would flour to keep the dough from sticking to your rolling pin.

Use your favorite cookie cutters to make your ornaments. Put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a toothpick to create a hole on top for the ornament hook or ribbon.

Bake in oven at 200° for 3 hours. You are just speeding up the drying process.

After they cool, use ribbon or an ornament hook to hang them on your tree. They smell so good and are so cute.

We had a blast making these. I hope you and your family have just as much fun spreading Christmas cheer around your homes! Happy holidays, friends!
