Moving On Base and the Future of the Blog

As soon as we found out our new assignment, I got busy looking at homes in the area. After learning so much with this house, and finding a new passion for DIY and decorating, it was a no brainer that we would buy again. But as I looked, it was glaringly clear that would not be in the cards for us. The homes were either way out of our price range, too far from the base, or in our price range without any budget for renovation. I was heartbroken, to say the least.

After crying and complaining to my poor husband for a good week (or two :-/ ), I had to wrap my mind around living back on base. The worst part about it for me was not knowing what this meant for the blog and my future as a designer and decorator. I was sure I would have to take a break from it all until we could buy and renovate again. Clearly, I was overreacting. I’ve lived on base before and it didn’t stop me from decorating and designing to my heart’s content. I’m not the first woman to live on base and want to make it a home for her family. Why should the fact that it’s a rental stop me now. Obviously I won’t be able to tear down walls or rip up floors, but I plan on doing anything else they will let me do.

I have been busy researching rental products like temporary wallpaper and even planning my designs for all of our rooms. Like any crazy person, I already have a list of projects I want to do. I have been a pinning fool! I have big plans to go wild with design and color and try so many things I’ve been wanting to try. I plan on going bold and bright. It’s got me super excited to move and share ideas on how to make a rental house a home.

So long story short, all is not lost. I’m sure you’re thinking, I never thought that to begin with and maybe she really is a crazy person. And that’s ok. I’m ok with that. And if you’re crazy like me, you can feel better now. 😛

  1. It’s ok to have a meltdown ever so often. But as I knew you would…You jumped up, brushed yourself off, put on your big chick panties and started all over again. Can’t wait to see what you do in NJ

    1. I really have so much to be thankful for in my life I really shouldn’t be complaining about small things. If New Jersey is where God thinks we should be, who am I to say different!
