Autumn Home Tour 2023

Hello, friends! I apologize for the lack of content here lately. I’ve been giving my attention to my YouTube channel lately, but I thought it was time to return here to share all the updates in our home because there are a lot. We are on year 3 of life in Germany and in this rental house and I think I am finally finished decorating. Yeah, right. Who am I kidding. You’re never really finished if you’re like me and love changing things up and hunting for new treasures. The last year or so, I have been focusing on finding antique furniture, art and rugs to bring back home with us to the states. It’s obviously a slow process and I hope to visit a few big European flea markets in the next year and a half before we leave. This year’s tour is a little different from previous years in that I wanted to use those antique finds and a few moody furniture makeovers to give our home an Autumn look, rather than depending on orange pumpkins and orange stems. I, of course picked up pumpkins from our local garden center and what would a decorating tour be without some beautiful seasonal arrangements, but all that is muted this year and I used as much natural elements as possible, mixing in a bit of faux with them. I will expand on some of the furniture makeovers I did in another post, but for now I’m going to focus on the all things Autumn. So, come on in friends and I hope you enjoy the tour!

Our entryway is adorned with lots of plant life to warm up this cold and modern space. I have also displayed some of the antiques I have found recently like a couple teak trays and a teak plant stool. This vintage rug steals the show, though.

Our hallway received a makeover recently. I did have loads of family artwork hanging in here, but it was a bit busy for me and I toned it down with some large, singular prints and added this beautiful vintage rug. The plant stands are a recent Facebook Marketplace find.

The guest bathroom is one of my favorite spaces to decorate. Since it a space that nearly every guest will see, but for a short period of time, I really feel like it’s ok to be bold in there. So, why not add a disco ball and lots of fun treasures. I also recently added this fun rug made from vintage rug remnants. I found an incredible rug dealer on Etsy.

Our living room received my first big furniture makeover. The TV console, which was previously painted white needed an update and I wanted it to stand out more against the white walls. I love how moody it is and it really changed the look of this space. I also have 2 new end tables that I have found on my antiquing adventures.

Our dining space has had a transformation as well. I refinished both the hutch and table/chairs. The green isn’t gone, but it’s a more toned down look.

If you follow any of my social media pages, you will have seen the update to our kitchen lighting recently. This was such an easy and cheap upgrade and I really wish I had done it as soon as we moved in. This light fixture is from Ikea.

Upstairs, I have recently reorganized and redecorated our landing library space. I put a vintage rug and a cozy chair in here for our girls to snuggle up and read. Our Sadie girl has been doing her homework reading in here every day after school. In fact, she’s built a fort in there today and has been playing up there for hours.

And finally, our bedroom. Other than reworking some of the art on the walls, and moving the bed to a new spot, this space hasn’t changed to much. I did add a few Autumn touches in here to cozy it up.

I am really enjoying the new moody look to our home. Honestly, I am yearning to put some roots down and buy our own home again, but until then I won’t stop making our temporary houses into a home for our family. I really hope you enjoyed a look around at all the recent changes and our Autumn decor. Thank you so much for visiting!

xoxo Tulu
